Pastor's Day Off Effective the first full week in September, Pastor's Day Off will change from Monday to Saturday of each week. (This is a change from what was announced last week.) This time is provided to our Pastor each week so that He may spend that time with his family.

Pastor Out of Town Pastor will be in Ames on Monday, August 28th for most of the day.

New Communion Ware for North Prairie Thanks to an anonymous gift, North Prairie now has individual cups for Holy Communion. Individual cups will be offered for Holy Communion at least one Sunday per month at North Prairie. Beaver Creek will continue with the common cup at its communion services for the present time. Thank you also goes to Frank Martin for cleaning the tarnish off of the chalice and pitchers for North Prairie. We will be using the chalice for communion occasionally as well.

Bible Study Please note there will be NO Bible study at Beaver Creek this week or next week (August 23rd & 30th). Some members of our summer Bible study are not able to attend the evening time during the school year. We will pick up our "Life of Jesus-The Passion" Bible study series in September, with hopefully more than one time offered. If you have a specific time in mind (such as Wednesday mornings) that you'd be able to attend, please let Pastor know so we can get our fall schedule ready in the near future!

Confirmation If you or someone you know has children in 7th or 8th grade that have not been confirmed and would be interested in participating in our confirmation program with our Pastor, please let Pastor know. If there is interest, there will be a Confirmation meeting held for potential students and parents on Wednesday, September 13th at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary at the North Prairie Church. This meeting will help Pastor get aquainted with everyone, set goals for the year, go over rules and expectations, and give parents and students the chance to ask questions. If you or someone you know would be interested in our confirmation program, please contact Pastor via email at revcwmartin@elcmiowa.org.

Office Hours Location Change Until the renovations to the steeple at the Beaver Creek church have been completed, Pastor's office hours in Forest City will be held at the Frank & Lora Martin residence. For directions, please call Pastor.

Bible Study Continues We will continue our "Life of Jesus-The Passion" Bible study series this Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. in the basement fellowship hall at Beaver Creek. This week's session is entitled "The Savior's Disciples-Loyalty" and we will be looking at portions of Matthew 26-27. Be sure to bring your Bible and a friend as we continue to study the Passion of Our Lord!

Construction Reminder Heritage Park of North Iowa and the Winnebago Historical Society are continuing on with the steeple repair project on the Beaver Creek church. The steeple has been removed from the church and is being restored and reshingled while the support structure above the balcony is also undergoing extensive repairs. The church bell has also been removed during the renovation, so we will not have use of the bell during this time. It is hoped to have the project completed by September. For your own safety, please do not go upstairs into the balcony or enter the construction area outside where the steeple is. Please also be on the lookout for boards, nails, etc. that may be outside in the church yard. If you wish to make a donation to help Heritage Park defray the costs of restoring the steeple, contact Jim Oulman.

Furnace Fund As some of you may be aware, when the original North Prairie congregation closed in 2004, the central air and furnaces were removed from the church and sold, but the ductwork remains intact. We are presently raising funds to purchase and install a heating system in the church for the winter months. If you wish to make a contribution to our furnace fund at North Prairie, please mark your gifts "Furnace Fund" and place them in the offering plate at either North Prairie or Beaver Creek or mail them to the church office in care of the Pastor.
