Reminder Effective this morning, October 1st, ELCM is no longer offering worship services at the Beaver Creek Church in Forest City, and has consolidated our mission efforts into one location at the North Prairie Lutheran Church, rural Leland, Iowa. Worship services for our North Prairie mission will be each Sunday at 9 a.m. with Holy Communion offered the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sunday of each month and all major festival Sundays. If you have any questions about the ELCM North Iowa consolidation, please contact Pastor.

Bible Study Due to a lack of interest, there will be no formal Tuesday morning Bible study. This Bible study will resume if and when there is expressed interest. We will, however, continue with our Wednesday evening Bible study at 6 p.m. in the sanctuary at North Prairie.

Wednesday Worship Beginning Wednesday, October 25th, we will be adding a Wednesday evening worship service on a trial basis through the first of the year. This service will begin at 7 p.m. and will be preceded by our Wednesday Bible Study at 6 p.m. There will be a different sermon preached at the midweek service, so even if you already attended Sunday morning or listened to the KIOW broadcast, you will have the opportunity to be fed by different message. Holy Communion will be celebrated twice each month at this service. Invite your friends, family members, co workers, and neighbors to come and worship with us on Wednesday evenings beginning Oct. 25th!

Reformation Era Service On Tuesday, October 31st, we will be comemmorating the Festival of the Reformation with a special "Calling All Lutherans" Reformation era worship service with Holy Communion. This service will begin at 7 p.m. and we will learn more about the various reforms made by Martin Luther to the worship life of the church. Invite a friend to come and join us for this unique worship experience as we learn more about the life of Martin Luther and give thanks to God for the return of the Gospel to the Christian church at the time of the Reformation!

Effective Sunday, October 1st, we will be consolidating our ELCM North Iowa mission work into one site at the North Prairie Lutheran Church, 45531 170th Avenue, rural Leland, Iowa. There will be one Sunday worship service offered each week at North Prairie at 9 a.m., and two Bible Study opportunities, Tuesday at 10 a.m., or Wednesday at 6 p.m.

If you have any questions regarding ELCM mission activity in northern Iowa, or would like for ELCM to explore mission possibilities in your community, please contact our Pastor.

Furnace Fund We are still raising the necessary funds for the installation of a new heating system for the North Prairie church. This heating system will need to be installed in the near future. Please mark your gifts "Furnace Fund" and either place them in the offering plate on Sunday morning, or mail them to the church office, payable to North Prairie Lutheran Mission. We will hope to have a new heating system selected and installed sometime in October.

Evening Worship Opportunity Coming Soon! Beginning in mid-late October once the new heating system has been instaled, we will begin offering a Wednesday evening worship service each week at North Prairie. The services will begin at 7 p.m. and will utilize various liturgies such as Evening Prayer, Vespers, Responsive Prayer, and Holy Communion. Holy Communion will be celebrated at least twice per month and all major festivals for the Wednesday services. There will be a different sermon preached at the midweek services than at our regular Sunday morning services. During the Advent season in December, these services will be our midweek Advent services with a special Advent sermon series. Invite your friends, neighbors, and coworkers who may not otherwise be able to join us on Sunday morning to join us for worship on Wednesday evenings. We will do this on a trial basis until the end of December, and then evaluate the response.

Confirmation Cancelled Since no parents or students showed for Confirmation Orientation this past Wednesday, confirmation classes have been cancelled. If a need arises later in the year for confirmation, arrangements will be made through the students and the Pastor.

Bible Study Opportunities We offer two Bible study opportunities each week, Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m. at the North Prairie church, or Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. in Forest City. We are continuing the "Life of Jesus-The Passion" Bible study series we began last summer. If you have any questions, please contact Pastor.

Beaver Creek Status It has been almost one year since ELCM began offering services at the Beaver Creek Church in Forest City. We have not seen the regular attendance or stewardship response that would be needed to see this preaching station become self supporting for several months.

After discussion with those who do attend Beaver Creek on a regular basis and with our ELCM President, Pastor Roy Steward, we have reached the following consensus:
1. Discontinue Sunday services at Beaver Creek and consolidate our ELCM North Iowa mission activity into one site at the North Prairie Lutheran Church. The last ELCM service at Beaver Creek will be Sunday, September 24th.
2. It is vital to our continuing ministry to maintain the KIOW broadcast. ELCM funds will be used to cover shortcomings to keep this broadcast on the air at least through the first of the year.
3. Redirect the funds used for the Beaver Creek site to North Prairie's mission efforts and exploratory mission work in northern Iowa and southern Minnesota where opportunity arises.
4. To put an end to efforts from other churches, pastors, or individuals in other Lutheran or non-Lutheran denominations to discredit ELCM or our mission congregation, President Steward and perhaps ELCM Ministerium Dean, Pastor Russ Burr, will make an effort to be with us in northern Iowa for a few days near the first of the year. Informational meetings will be held with Pastor Steward and Pastor Burr to help lend credibility to our mission.

If you have any questions or concerns about these matters, please contact Pastor after the service today.
